Ronald graduated with a BSc from the University of Western Australia in 1992, and completed his Post-Graduate Diploma in Audiology from the University of Queensland in 1993.
His started his career with the ENT Department, Singapore General Hospital in 1995 and was their Senior Principal Audiologist and Manager, Listen & Talk Programme until 2004. Whilst there he was instrumental in setting-up their Hearing Aid, Cochlear Implant and Auditory-Verbal Therapy services.
At the National level, he helped spearhead the study on Childhood Deafness in Singapore as part of a major paper presented to the Ministry of Health (MOH) to lobby for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (1997). He was subsequently appointed into the MOH committees to establish and manage the National UNHS Programme and The National Cochlear Implant Programmes for children and adults (1999). He was the MOH lead trainer to train the UNHS screeners at all polyclinics and birthing hospitals. He also conducted talks and workshops regionally. In 2013, he joined Jurong Health Service to help develop their Audiology services. He currently also volunteers to give school talks on Hearing Loss Awareness and Prevention as a Dangerous Decibels Educator.
