FACULTY
Chris is an easy going and experienced leader in health economics and clinical research, with a keen interest in health technology assessment, evidence generation, health system reform, RWE and translational research. He currently leads the medical technology evaluation team at the Agency for Care Effectiveness (ACE)
He was invited to join the Royal Society of Medicine in 2017 based on his work on the cost-effectiveness of bilateral cochlear implants in paediatric and adult populations. Chris obtained his Masters in Clinical Epidemiology from the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics, The University of Newcastle, with concentrations in clinical epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology.
Before joining the ACE, Chris worked in the private sector for 15 years in clinical research and health economics roles, as a consultant with Contract Research Organisations, and in health economics roles for Cochlear Limited and Medtronic ANZ Ltd. Chris also worked for NSW Health for 9 years in a number of senior roles earlier in his career.
Having public and private sector experience in consultancy, niche manufacturing, as well as working for the largest medical technology manufacturer, gives Chris a unique perspective on the need for fit for purpose health technology assessment. Rigorous assessment coupled with understanding patient access needs are key drivers in evaluating medical technologies at ACE.
ACE is still in its development phase for med tech evaluation, and it is an exciting time to be involved in shaping the health care system and continuing the impressive record of improving patient outcomes in Singapore.
